Daisetsuzan — The Mountain That Inspired Us
Our Origin
Born from the Roof of Hokkaido
Deep in the heart of Hokkaido, Japan, rises Daisetsuzan — a vast volcanic mountain range that shapes the land, the seasons, and the spirit of those who walk its trails.
The Land
Japan's Largest National Park
Daisetsuzan National Park spans over 226,000 hectares. Known as "Kamuy Mintara" (the Playground of the Gods) by the Ainu people, this sacred landscape is home to rugged peaks, ancient forests, hot springs, and some of the most challenging alpine terrain in Japan.
The Inspiration
Where YAMAtune Was Born
YAMAtune was created by people who walk these trails. Every design decision — the cushioning zones, the compression fit, the moisture management — is informed by the demands of Daisetsuzan and the trails of Hokkaido.
The Seasons
A Mountain for Every Season
Spring brings snowmelt and wildflowers blooming through the frost. Summer opens the high alpine routes to hikers from across Japan and the world. Autumn transforms the mountain into a canvas of red, gold, and amber. Winter closes the peaks under deep snow, leaving the mountain to the most experienced and the most determined.
